Ever seen one of these and wondered what in the world that is? It is a universal receptacle used for electrical plugs. But not just any, plugs from all over the world! Which is great for all you travelers out there that bring business with you.
A Universal Receptacle features the insertion opening design, allowing it to accept plugs that conform to any International or North American standard. Here at Quail, we offer all plugs from various countries that are compatible with the universal receptacle.
The image below demonstrates a few different cords featuring a country plug on one side and connected to the Universal receptacle on the other.
Now that you are bringing business along with you, I bet you’re wondering about the outlets in that foreign country. This is where a Universal Adapter comes into play.
Universal power adapters are devices that make it possible for you to connect a power supply to various devices. The purpose of a universal adapter is for when you’re making those business trips out of the country, say Italy for example, where the type of electrical outlets and the power supply must be converted in order to function properly with the device. Since various countries use different designs and require different standards for electrical outlets, plug attachments are needed in order to be able to use your device without relying on battery power.
Following, is a list providing the different configurations available at Quail:
- Continental Europe 0521.BG
- Switzerland 0533.BG
- Italy 0532.BG
- Denmark 0531.BG
- UK 0522.BG
- China 0541.BG
- Japan/Taiwan 0520.BG
- Australia 0523.BG
- Israel WA15
- Brazil 0542.BG
Before using your device, make sure it has a universal rating or universal power supply (see Image A showing input of 100-240V). If you live in an 110V country (America) and are traveling to a 220V country, such as Italy, you will need a Step-Down Converter to take the voltage from 110 to 220, and ensure safe operation of your device. However, if you live in a 220V country, (like most countries) and you’re traveling to North America, you will need a Step Up Converter.
While using a Step Up/Step Down Converter, it doesn’t matter where you’re traveling to, you will be more prepared for converting from 110 to 220 and from 220 to 110 volts.
